Zondervan, The Ooze and “My Beautiful Idol”

April 16th, 2008 · 10 Comments

I have to admit, I’m quite impressed. I got an email on Monday telling me that I had been selected to be an “Ooze Select Blogger,” which basically means about 3-5 times a year, Zondervan and The Ooze will send me new books to review. Pretty cool.

I was told I’d be getting a copy of Pete Gall’s memoir “My Beautiful Idol.” I have books mailed to me all time, so I figure it would be a good two weeks before it came in the mail. Then today, two days after I got the email, I come home from my morning class and what do I find? A package from Zondervan with my name on it. Apparently they don’t mess around. And apparently books come much quicker when sent directly from the publisher. I’ll have to remember that.

So, anyway, hopefully I can get it read over the next week or so and I after I finish my series on “Jesus for President” I can throw up a review.

I’ll look forward to hearing what you think of it, Blake.

Drop me an email if you would like to discuss.

@pete. thanks for stopping by and thanks for giving small timers like myself an opportunity to take a look. oh, and by the way, those to two email addresses you’ve got setup for comments make me smile. nice move.

Nobody who’s seen God is small time. I suppose at some point there may be too many posts or emails to keep up with very well, but even then, the greatest part of this whole adventure I’m on with the book is discovering that I’m not alone in wanting to compare notes about the mysteries and the overwhelming love I’ve experienced in this “land of the living.” I’m excited to e-meet you and to be able to follow some of your notes. @pete. there is indeed beauty in the conversation and discovering we are not alone is inspiring if not empowering. thanks for the encouragement. maybe one of these days we can broaden the conversation in person. i hope so.

i was similarly impressed with the quick time in receiving the book. didn’t get me much of a chance to finish something i was already reading. oh well.
