Shipping up to Boston: day 5 and beyond
Friday
Friday was a long day. Longer than we had anticipated and just shy of 500 miles. We left Erie, PA in the morning and drove north of Buffalo, NY to see Niagara Falls. Even though we didn’t visit the Canadian side — which would’ve been much more beautiful — it was still well worth the trip. We were able to see American Falls which is the smaller one and we did the wet and windy Cave of the Winds tour. Finally, we walked out to Terrapin Point to see the massive Horseshoe Falls. It was amazing. Here are a few pictures. Click here if you have problems with the slideshow.
Saturday
The final day of the trip. We made the short drive from Springfield, MA into Boston. Our apartment is technically in Dorchester on Dorchester Ave. no less — which, as it turns out, is the most diverse street in the world. So, that’s pretty cool.
Then came the exhausting part: unloading all our junk and carrying it all up three spiral of some of the steepest, most narrow stairs known to exist. That took most of the afternoon. After finishing we returned the Penske truck — which I had developed some affection for — and in the process I was told by a native Bostonian that I drive like a Bostonian. I take it as a compliment, though I did read up a little before we got there.
After all that we came back with the intent of doing some serious unpacking. We got through a couple of boxes and just about collapsed because we were so tired. We spent the rest of the evening resting.
Turns out we didn’t take any pictures. Things were a little too hectic.
To Infinity…and Beyond!
We slept in a little on Sunday and had a late breakfast with some family in Quincy, MA at Finian’s Restaurant. It was a buffet. Good times. We spent most the day Sunday unpacking and getting things settled. We still have a ton to do. But we have about a month or so before things get really bust with school and whatnot. So we’ll take it slow and easy.
Tomorrow we may venture out, do some exploring on “the T” – since it will be our transportation — and hopefully run some errands. I’ll remember to take pictures.
